9 Anime Events in Tokyo Autumn/Winter 2020
If you’re an anime fan who is visiting Tokyo, then you’re probably wanting to attend as many anime events as you can whilst you are there! Whether it’s anime merchandise pop up shops, anime cafes or anime conventions…there are tons of anime events that are constantly going on in Tokyo! In this article we will be taking you through some anime events coming to Japan in autumn/winter 2020. I highly recommend that you check out and attend as many of these events as you can whilst you’re in Tokyo! So if you’re looking to attend some fun anime events in Tokyo, make sure to keep reading this article.
1. Demon Slayer Movie: Mugen Train Release
The biggest anime related event coming to Tokyo this year HAS to be the release of the new Demon Slayer movie ‘Mugen Train’. The movie is coming to cinemas all over Japan! Unfortunately, the film will be in Japanese and not have subtitles, due to that being the original. If you speak Japanese then this won’t be a problem for you, but if you don’t don’t worry! There are some cinemas in Tokyo that accommodate non-Japanese people by offering English subtitles. Make sure to do your research and see if you can find any cinemas offering this in Tokyo!

2. Haikyuu Fair in Animate
This winter, Haikyuu will be collaborating with Animate to bring out some amazing limited edition merchandise. The theme for the merchandise is the characters on winter mornings! All the items are super cute and unique, you will definitely want to get your hands on all the items. They will be on sale from december 2020, so if you’re in Tokyo this December, make sure you get down to Animate to get some amazing Haikyuu merchandise.

3. Lawson X Demon Slayer
The popular convenience store in Japan, Lawson, is collaborating with Demon Slayer (Kimetsu No Yaiba) to bring out tons of Demon Slayer themed food and snacks. Some foods include: tartes, mochi, curry pan, sandwiches, drinks and much more! All the items look amazing…if you go you will definitely want to buy EVERYTHING. These items will be sold at Lawsons all over Tokyo and even at some locations outside of Tokyo!

4. Sanrio Ichigo Shibun Cafe
A new Sanrio cafe is coming to Tokyo this November and the food looks absolutely amazing! This Sanrio pop up cafe will be held at ‘Egg & Spuma’, located in Shinjuku, and will be only on for a limited time! The cafe is to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Sanrio! If you’re a Sanrio fan and you’re in Tokyo this November, you have to visit this amazing anime cafe.

5. Banana Fish X Oyster Bar Restaurant
The popular anime, ‘Banana Fish’, will be collaborating with ‘Grand Central Oyster Bar and Restaurant’ in Shinagawa to create a Banana Fish event! As you can see above, the promotional poster shows the two main characters in the restaurant together; this image is available in different forms of merchandise! There are mini posters, badges and notebooks on offer- all of which can only be purchased at this event! There will also different banana fish themed dishes and drinks! Overall it looks like a super fun event that all Banana Fish fans NEED to visit!

6. Pokemon Cafe X Pikachu Sweets
If you’re a Pokemon fan then you probably know that there is a pokemon cafe located in Tokyo! This year, the Pokemon cafe will be creating new dishes to celebrate their new brand ‘Pikachu Sweets’. All the dishes in this range will be themed around Pikachu and they are all super cute! One of the main items on the menu is the cake selection box which allows you to 2 or 4 cakes out of the Pikachu sweets collection! If you’re in Tokyo this autumn, you have to visit the Pokemon Cafe and pick up some of these goods.

7. My Hero Academia Pop Up Cafe
A new My Hero Academia cafe is opening up in Shibuya this winter, with tons of My Hero Academia themed dishes, drinks and merchandise available at the cafe! The cafe will be held in a ‘Bunbougu Cafe’ which means a ‘stationary cafe’. This means that all the new artwork used at the cafe will look like sketches; this is super unique and cute! The food and drink available also looks super tasty and unique…especially the amazing ‘Coloring Juice’! So if you’re a My Hero Academia fan in Tokyo this winter, you must visit this pop up cafe!

8. Re:Zero Cafe and Pop Up Store
A new Re:Zero anime cafe and pop up merchandise shop is coming to Tokyo this Autumn! The cafe and shop will be held in ‘Narita anime deck’ which can be easily accessed via train from central Tokyo. The cafe will host a full menu of Re:Zero themed food, as well as having a whole anime merchandise pop up store dedicated to Re:zero merchandise! The food and merchandise looks absolutely amazing, so if you’re a Re:Zero fan make sure you get down to this cafe as soon as possible!

9. Attack on Titan X Animate Cafe
If you’re an Attack on Titan (Shigeki No Kyojin) fan, you will know that the final season is set to come out soon. Due to this, Animate will be teaming up with Attack on Titan to bring a pop up cafe to Tokyo this winter. The cafe will be bringing out original merchandise as well as unique Attack on Titan themed food and drink! This is a great way to celebrate the release of the new season, especially if you’re a big fan of Attack on Titan!
