What are Real Life Anime Locations?

Real life anime locations are locations in the real world that have been featured in anime. Although these locations exist all over the world, most of them exist in Japan due to many anime being set in Japan. Real life anime locations can be spotted in anime due to how accurate they look to the real life location. Many fans go out to try to find the locations they spot in anime, an act that is called ‘seichijunrei’ in Japan; which literally translates to a pilgrimage to holy places. This article will run through 5 real life locations that were featured in the anime ‘Tokyo Revengers’.

1. Parthenon Tama

When Did it Appear in the Anime?

This location appears in episode 2 and 3 of Tokyo Revengers when Takemichi challenges Masataka to a fight. The two fight at this location with the crowd siting on the steps behind them watching. This is also the location where Mikey and Darken show up and meet Takemichi for the first time. This then follows on to the scenes of the next location on this list.

Where is it located?

This location is located at ‘Parthenon Tama’ which is located inside of ‘Tama Central Park’. Tama is a city located in western Tokyo and is really easy to access via train. This location can be accessed by taking the Keio Line to Keio-Tama-Center Station and walking around 5 minute to Tama Central Park.

2. Tama River

When Did it Appear in the Anime?

This location appears in episode 3 of Tokyo Revengers, after the fight mentioned under the first location on this list. On their way home from school, Mikey and Draken take Takemichi with them down the river on their bikes. They have a conversation relating to the plot of the anime and Takemichi asks them some questions about their gang. The setting is very beautiful in the anime and was almost exactly the same in real life.

Where is it located?

This location is located along the Tama River, just in front of Tokyo High School. The river is quite long so if you are wanting to visit this location I would recommend first making your way to Tokyo High School and then finding your way to the river. This location can be accessed by taking the Tokyu Tamagawa Line to Unoki Station. The location is around a 5 minute walk from the station.

3. Shibuya-bashi

When Did it Appear in the Anime?

This location appeared in episode 18 of the anime, when Chifuyu and Takemichi meet Baji on the bride to talk. This scene takes place the day before the big Halloween fight. The location in the anime and real life look identical and I felt like I was a part of the anime!

Where is it located?

Although the bridge is called Shibuya-bashi, it is actually located closer to Ebisu rather than Shibuya. The bridge is quite hard to find as it does not appear as a location on Google Maps. You can access this location by taking the JR Yamanote Line to Ebisu Station and then walking around 3 minutes to the location!

This location did not appear in the actual anime but appeared in the 3rd Tokyo Revengers promotional video. This scene of the video features most of the main characters on Shibuya crossing with their gang flag in front of them. The location looks extremely accurate in the promotional video and is worth checking out if you’re in Shibuya!

Where is it located?

This location is located at the extremely famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing! The crossing is located right in front of Shibuya Station which can be accessed via the JR Yamanote line.

5. Eggs’n Things Harajuku

When Did it Appear in the Anime?

This location appeared in Tokyo Revengers when Mikey and Emma go on a date together and eat pancakes. It is clear from the pancakes they are eating and the setting that this is at Eggs’n Things in Harajuku, a very popular restaurant to eat pancakes at. I found the two pancake options above on the restaurants menu and they look pretty accurate to the ones that Mikey and Emma are eating!

Where is it located?

This location is in Harajuku, close to Cat Street! The restaurant can be accessed by taking the JR Yamanote Line to Harajuku Station and walking around 10 minutes to the location.
