If you’re an anime fan and you’re visiting Tokyo in 2020, you probably want to visit as many anime places and events as possible. There are tons of anime events scheduled in 2020, from anime pop up shops and cafes to anime conventions. 1. Demon Slayer (Kimetsu No Yaiba) Pop up Store
The Kimetsu No Yaiba pop up store will be open in Loft stores throughout Japan at different times throughout the year. The one that will open in Tokyo will be located at the Shibuya Loft store and will be open until 07/01/2020, so if you’re going to be in Tokyo at the beginning of the year, this is the place to go!
The pop up shop will be selling tons of Demon Slayer merchandise that you can’t buy anywhere else yet so it is well worth visiting this pop up store! The merchandise line up includes many classic items such as keychains, magnets and various stationary but they also have tons of unique merchandise! Some of these include Nezuko themed soap, Goyu themed Lip Balm and a 2020 calendar!!
If you’re wanting to buy Kimetsu No Yaiba merchandise for yourself or friends back home, I’d highly recommend going to this pop up store!

2. Sailor Moon Pop Up Cafe
Sailor Moon is an extremely popular anime that has sparked many peoples interest in Japan! The story about the girls working together with one another has gripped many people and it is still widely loved today, despite it being quite old! If you love Sailor Moon and you’re going to Tokyo soon, then you’re in luck, because a Sailor Moon pop up cafe has recently opened up at SkyTree! The cafe has a fun menu on offer of Sailor Moon themed food and they are also selling tons of original merchandise to go with it!
Some merchandise on sale includes Sailor Moon notebooks, phone cases, cups and much more! Not only that but the design is super cute and is very different to other Sailor Moon merchandise that i’ve seen before. So if you are a Sailor Moon fan and you’re going to Tokyo soon, you HAVE to check out this pop up cafe!

3. Anime Japan 2020
Anime Japan is one of the biggest anime conventions that takes place yearly in Tokyo! Experiencing an anime convention in the country that CREATED anime is honestly one of the best things in the world and the people who attend are all super passionate about anime! There are also tons of cosplayers there that you can take pictures with…but make sure you ask before as cosplayers in Japan are super serious about what they do!
Some of the biggest animation studios in Japan present at the event giving information on what is coming up in the future. On top of this, there are TONS of stalls selling anime merchandise, anime displays to take pictures of, anime activities and MUCH MORE! If you love anime and going to anime conventions, I’d highly recommend you try to visit Anime Japan in 2020
Anime Japan 2020 will take place on March 21st and March 22nd and will take place at Tokyo Big Sight. The event will be held from 10AM – 5PM but it is very busy before 12PM, so if you don’t want to queue make sure you go after 12pm. Tickets can be bought before the event or on the door.

4. Full Metal Alchemist Pop Up Cafe
A new Full Metal Alchemist pop up cafe is now open in Tokyo and will be open until 01/02/2020, so you have plenty of time to go and visit this amazing cafe! All the food on the menu is, of course, Full Metal Alchemist themed with dishes such as: Ed themed bean curry, ‘The Gate of Truth’ pasta and the Elric Brothers’ chicken plate. Depending on which dish you choose, you will receive a free mini poster as a gift that is related to the dish you chose.
On top of this there is tons of original merchandise goods on sale at the cafe too! So if you’re someone who loves collecting unique anime goods, or just want to buy some Full Metal Alchemist merchandise, then this is the place for you!!

5. Attack on Titan X Joypolis Collab
Joypolis are collaborating with Attack on Titan the winter to create amazing attractions to make you feel like you are INSIDE the anime!! Due to the anime sadly coming to an end soon, Joypolis are teaming up with the anime to create an unforgettable event! In case you don’t know, Joypolis is a theme park in Odaiba that is located inside!! The indoor park even has a rollercoaster inside of it as well as tons of VR and 3D attractions for you to enjoy!!
Everything in the park will be Attack on Titan themed and there will be special shows from the anime!! As if that’s not enough, there are tons of original goods on sale for you to get your hands on at the event as well as a Attack on Titan themed CAFE!!
If you’re in Tokyo while this event is taking place, you HAVE to check it out! Joypolis is a super unique experience and is so fun!!

6. World Cosplay Summit 2020
The World Cosplay Summit is a yearly cosplay event that takes place in Tokyo and involves cosplayers from all over the world coming to the event to show off their amazing costumes! Amateur cosplayers as well as professional cosplayers all join in on the event and you don’t even have to cosplay to go, many go to the event simply to admire other’s costumes!
The event will be full of cosplayers as well as tons of shows that cosplayers will perform in! On top of that, there are also stalls selling anime and cosplay goods as well as tons of photo spots! There is also competition running throughout the event that is called ‘the cosplay performance championships’, but you don’t have to take part in this to be a part of the event! If you’re in Tokyo and love cosplay, this is somewhere you HAVE to go!
