Tokyo Character Street: 7 Shops You MUST Go To
Tokyo Character Street is a famous row of shops that is located underneath Tokyo Station. The row of shops was given the name ‘Tokyo Character Street’ due to all of the shops that are there being themed around some sort of anime or character. Some examples of shops there include: Studio Ghibli Store, Sanrio Store, Precure Store and MANY MORE! Today, we’re going to give you a tour around all the BEST character shops at Tokyo Character Street.
1. Pokemon Store
As you may already know, the biggest Pokemon center is located in Ikebukuro and is called ‘Pokemon Center MEGA Tokyo’. If you have time to go there, I’d highly recommend that you do as it is super big and there are tons of merchandise on sale. However, if you’re short for time but want to buy yourself some Pokemon merchandise, this Pokemon store in Tokyo Character Street is a good alternative. It is quite small but it sells all the most popular Pokemon merchandise along with special Tokyo Station Pikachus! So if you’re going to Tokyo Character Street and love Pokemon, this should be your first stop!

2. PreCure Store
PreCure, also known as ‘Pretty Cure’, is a very popular feel good anime. Despite it’s popularity in Japan, it is hard to find PreCure merchandise in the west. But don’t worry, because if you’re a PreCure fan and you’re traveling to Tokyo then you can visit this PreCure Store which is full of all the PreCure merchandise you’ve ever dreamed of!
The store has all different kinds of merchandise on offer such as stationary, plushies and posters! There are also cardboard cutouts outside the shop for you to take pictures with!! I’d highly recommend anyone going to Tokyo to visit this shop!

3. Prism Stone
Prism Stone is a store selling merchandise from the popular anime PriPara, which was originally a Japanese arcade game. The anime is super cute and so is all the merchandise that is on sale from the show. It can be quite hard to know where to find the merchandise throughout Tokyo but thankfully this amazing Prism Stone store opened in Tokyo Character Street making it super easy for you to buy all the merchandise that you want from the anime!

4. Rilakkuma Store
Rilakkuma is a very popular character in Japan and around the world! The name of the character comes from ‘Rirakusu’, which is relax in Japanese, and ‘Kuma’, which means bear in Japanese. You can find Rilakkuma merchandise almost anywhere in Japan, especially in stores such as Kiddy Land. But if you’re looking to buy limited edition and original merchandise, the Rilakkuma store in Tokyo Character Street is the place to go!! Everything in the store is so cute, they even have a full range of Rilakkuma characters that are dressed as train station workers! If you love Rilakkuma and want to find some cute merchandise, you have to go here!

There are many Hello Kitty Stores in Japan, which not only sell Hello Kitty merchandise but merchandise from ALL Sanrio characters. One of the most popular Hello Kitty Stores is this one located on Tokyo Character Street. This is due it being in a super handy location and also being located next to all the other character stores so you can shop for everything you want in one place! 6. Donguri (Studio Ghibli Store)
Studio Ghibli produces amazing anime films which are super popular and often spark peoples love of Japan! The stories themselves, along with the characters and themes are all amazing and have a nostalgic vibe. Due to this, many go to Tokyo looking for Studio Ghibli merchandise. The Studio Ghibli Museum in Mitaka sells Studio Ghibli merchandise, but if you don’t have time to go to the museum or didn’t book your tickets, this store on Tokyo Character Street sells just as much merchandise and is amazing! 7. Jump Shop
If you love all anime from the Jump Series, such as Naruto, Haikyuu, One Piece and Dragon Ball…this should be one of the first shops you go to in Japan! The shop is full of amazing merchandise from all of these animes along with special life size figures of iconic characters around the store! The merchandise is really well thought out and is stuff you will actually want to buy and use!
So if you love Jump anime, you HAVE to go to the Jump Shop in Tokyo Character Street!
