There are tons of anime and manga attractions in Tokyo including anime theme parks, anime cafes and anime districts. however, one of the biggest anime and manga attractions are definitely the anime and manga museums that are located in Tokyo. There are tons of anime museums in Tokyo, all of which are dedicated to different anime and animation studios in Japan. These are great places to find out more about your favourite anime whilst also learning a bit more about the animation process that takes place when turning a manga into an anime. The Studio Ghibli Museum, located in Mitaka, Tokyo, is one of the most popular anime museums in Tokyo. As the name suggests, the museum focuses on the popular animation studio, Studio Ghibli, which has created very influential anime films such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and many others. The museum goes into detail about the history of the animation studio and also the animation process itself. The anime museum is also full of amazing photo spots and even a Studio Ghibli themed cafe! Being at this museum really makes you feel like you are in Studio Ghibli movie. So if you’re a Studio Ghibli fan in Tokyo, you have to visit this amazing anime museum!

The Toei Animation Museum is another popular animation museum that is located in Nerima. This museum focuses on anime that was created by the Toei Animation Studio. This includes popular anime such as Dragon Ball, PreCure and One Piece. The museum is both fun for children and adults and has many photo spots and anime displays throughout the museum. It also goes into detail about the process that is undertaken to make a manga into an anime. This is very insightful and interesting to learn about as this information is not readily available outside of Japan. The Suginami Animation Studio is a more general anime museum that is located in Suginami. The museum is free to enter and it is constantly holding different anime exhibitions. Suginami is the area in Tokyo with the most anime studios located in it, so it makes sense that there is an anime museum located here. Inside the museum there are multiple displays and exhibitions explaining the history of anime in Japan and other interesting information about animation in Japan. You can also take part in some hands-on activities inside the museum which makes the anime museum even more fun to visit! If you’re looking to learn more about the history of anime and general information surrounding animation in Japan, this is somewhere you HAVE to go!

The Tokyo Anime Center is a building located in Shinjuku that is dedicated to teach people from outside of Japan all about anime and the anime industry in Japan. The anime center is constantly holding anime events, including interviews with voice actors and animators. The Tokyo Anime Center also sells anime merchandise and has anime displays throughout the center that make great photo spots. If you want to learn more about anime and have the chance to meet some anime voice actors, the Tokyo Anime Center is somewhere you must visit!

The Seiyuu Museum is a museum in Shibuya that focuses on voice actor’s role in the animation process. Seiyuu means voice actor in Japanese, which is why the museum is called the Seiyuu Museum. Voice actors are a huge part of anime and really bring the characters to life. The museum goes into detail about the voice acting process and also the history of voice acting for animation. It is a super interesting museum to visit and allows you to learn a lot about voice acting and anime. If you are someone who is interested in the voice acting aspect of anime, this is an anime museum that you must visit!

Tokiwasō-dōri Rest Spot is a small museum in Tokyo that has been made into a museum due to it previously being the home to many manga artists incuding Osamu Tezuka! Due to this, the site has been made into a free memorial site that is also filled with information on these manga artist’s lives and the history of manga itself. Whilst this is not necessarily about anime, it is nice to learn about the thing that anime is based off of, which is manga!
