If you’re going to Tokyo and have an interest in Japan, It’s very likely that you have an interest in anime and manga. Because of this, it’s only natural that you want to find the best anime and manga merchandise that Tokyo has to offer! There are TONS of anime and manga merchandise shops in Tokyo, it can be hard to know where to start! That’s why we’ve created this handy list of the TOP 10 anime and manga merchandise shops that Tokyo has on offer. All of these stores are my personal favorites to go and shops for anime merchandise!

Akihabara:

1. Animate

Animate, Akihabara

If you know anything about anime and manga stores in Tokyo, then you’ve probably heard of Animate. It’s a chain store, that has shops all over Tokyo but one of the best shops is located in Akihabara (the hub of all things anime and manga in Tokyo). The store sells everything from anime merchandise to actual manga and even ENGLISH MANGA, depending on which store you go to! The best thing abut Animate is, due to it being one of the main places in Tokyo for anime and manga goods, they sell merchandise from TONS of animes…even ones that not many people know of!

So if you like to watch anime that is not very popular, or you’re simply looking for some great anime merchandise in Tokyo, Animate is where you should head to first! The store is currently collaborating with Kimetsu No Yaiba (Demon Slayer) to bring out some amazing merchandise! For more information on their goods make sure to check out their website! (They even offer international shipping.

2. K-Books

Haiku Merchandise on offer at K-Books

K-Books is another anime and manga store that is located in Akihabara. Compared to Animate, the store sells more manga than merchandise, however they do still have a good collection of anime merchandise! The store is located in ‘Radio Kaikan’ which is a shopping center full of anime and manga stores. K-Books have other stores around Tokyo but this is the main store, meaning they have the widest selection of anime goods!

A big reason why I love K-Books is the price point. They sell the goods for a fairly good price compared to other anime and manga stores. So if you’re shopping on a budget but looking for some good quality anime and manga merchandise then K-Books is the place to go!

3. Gachapon Kaikan

Gatchapon Kaikan

Although this is technically not an anime merchandise shop, I wanted to include it on the list as it is actually a great place to get your hands on some unique anime merchandise! A ‘gatchapon’ is a popular machine in Japan that allows you to put a small amount of money in, in exchange for a prize. All though all the prizes on offer are on the front of each machine, the catch is that you’re not sure which you’re going to get. This is a fun thing to do, especially when it comes to anime as you’re not sure which character’s goods you’re going to get as a prize which adds a bit of excitement, especially if you get the character you wanted! If you don’t get the one you want, you can always trade with your friends OR sell it at the anime stores nearby!
