Top 5 Lolita Fashion Stores in Tokyo
There are many reasons why one would become interested in Japan and want to go to Tokyo, one of those reasons may be fashion! Japanese fashion is truly amazing and there are many styles that were born in Japan. One of these, for example, is the popular style known as ‘Lolita Style’. The style is said to be inspired by English children’s clothes from the victorian period. Since it came about it has been developed into different forms of Lolita, such as ‘Gothic Lolita’! There are many shops in Tokyo, particularly in Harajuku, that sell amazing Lolita fashion for a reasonable price! If you love Lolita fashion and you’re planning to go to Tokyo, here are 5 shops you HAVE to go to!
1. Swankiss, Shibuya 109
Swankiss’ concept is to create Lolita fashion that can be worn everyday. This means that you can still wear super cute Lolita fashion on the days when you don’t feel like wearing a full Lolita outfit with a dress and accessories! The shop sells a range of clothes such as skirts, tops, jumpers and more! Many have labeled this shop as being a ‘neo-lolita’ style shop due to it creating everyday clothes with a Lolita twist!
Not only that, but the shop also sells many accessories to go with Lolita outfits too. Such as shoes, bags, hats, hair accessories etc! The shop and it’s concept is very interesting and is a great place to pick up some super ‘Kawaii’ clothes! If you like Lolita fashion and you’re going shopping in Tokyo, I’d highly recommend checking out Swankiss in Shibuya 109!

2. Milk, Harajuku
Milk is a shop in Harajuku that sells Lolita fashion. As you can see from the window display, they love to create new and unique Lolita fashion and their concept is to try and get away from the traditional idea of what ‘Lolita style’ is, so that more people can enjoy wearing Lolita fashion. Despite this, they have still kept the basic concept of Lolita style through the floral patterns, frills and dresses. Although they have a lot of clothes on sale that are pink and light colored, they have started to create Lolita fashion in browns and more neutral colors which is nice to see.
The shop itself is also decorated super cute and the staff are super friendly. The shop has a kind of ’boutique’ vibe as it is quite small and new. This is nice as you can ask the staff for advice and have a better shopping experience compared to much larger Lolita stores! So if you want to find some unique Lolita clothes in Tokyo, Milk is definitely a great place to start!

5. Baby, The Stars Shine Bright, Harajuku
Baby, The Stars Shine Bright is a famous Lolita shop in Harajuku that is famous for selling traditional Lolita clothes that are very well made and come in all different colors and patterns! Most of the shops i’ve mentioned above sell Lolita clothing that can be worn everyday, however this Lolita clothing store mainly sells actual Lolita dresses and their accessories, rather than everyday clothes. Due to this, it is a great place for those wanting to buy some Lolita clothes for a special occasion or for a convention!
The staff in the shop are very helpful and can usually speak a bit of English (due to this shop being super popular with both Japanese and non-Japanese people alike), so you don’t have to worry about language if you want to ask the staff for advice! If you love Lolita fashion, definitely go and have a look in this shop to see if there is something you like there!
