Tokyo Anime Events Autumn 2019

As you may already know, we love showing you all the crazy otaku things to do in Tokyo, weather it’s anime cafes or real life anime locations we’ve featured many anime and otaku activities on our website! Today we’re going to be showing you some specific EVENTS that will be held in Tokyo this Autumn (2019) that are all centered around anime!! If you’re an otaku visiting Tokyo this Autumn, this list is perfect for you!

1. Anime Rave Festival, Zepp DiverCity

Yes, you read that correct…an ANIME RAVE. This event will feature different DJs and artists, some of who’s music has been featured in anime! Everything at the event will be anime themed from the music, to the costumes and decor! This is such a great and unique event that you really can’t experience anywhere else so why not go and experience it in the biggest metropolis in the world! This event is especially good for those who are doing their study abroad in Japan as you can take all of your university friends and have an otaku night out!

2. Jump Shop, Aqua City

This store is open for a LIMITED time only and sells tons of original Shonen Jump items! The store is open until February 2020 so there is still plenty of time to go and grab some amazing original goods! The store really does have something for everyone with merchandise from Haikyu, One Piece, Naruto and MUCH MORE! All the merchandise is super cute and is fairly reasonably priced…you’ll end up wanting to buy the whole shop!

3. Naruto to Boruto The Live, Makuhari Messe

The event is a live show to celebrate the popular anime ‘Naruto‘ and it’s follow on anime ‘Boruto‘. The live stage show will be full of scenes and music from the anime which is sure to make many of you feel nostalgic! At the event there will also be ORIGINAL goods on sale which is great for those looking for some unique Naruto merchandise in Tokyo! The event will be held on 05/10/2019 and on 06/10/2019. Tickets can be purchased online on the official website.

7,500yen for a ‘family seat’. 18,000yen for a ‘premium seat’.

4. Anime Film Festival Tokyo, TOHO cinema

This event will showcase new anime films of 2019 along with films that have been made by indie film makers! Which means this even is a great place to go for those who are looking to discover some new anime! The event will be held in TOHO cinema, Shinjuku and the schedule and be viewed on the official website. Unfortunately the films will not have English subtitles so for those who can’t speak any Japanese, this probably isn’t a good event for you. On the other hand, for those who are studying Japanese this is a great opportunity for you to go and practice your Japanese listening as you can’t rely on subtitles! The event will be held until the 26th of October 2019.

No set ticket price but tickets must be bought for each film.

5. Halloween Cosplay Festival, Ikebukuro

This event is one of the largest Halloween events in Tokyo and was first held in 2014. The event is held yearly on the streets of Ikebukuro east of the station. During last years 2 day event 105,000 people attended the event!! whether you are a professional cosplayer, foreign cosplayer, first time cosplayer or an anime fan who just wants to check out other people’s cosplay…everyone is welcome at this event! There will also be tons of activities on throughout the streets for you to enjoy! If for some reason you cannot make it to the event, don’t worry! The whole event will be live-streamed via Niconico livestreaming! The event will be held from 26/10/2019 to 27/10/2019.

  • Ikebukuro Station East Exit area.
  • Take the Yamanote line from Shinjuku Station to Ikebukuro Station.
