2019/2020 has been an amazing year for anime! There has been some AMAZING new releases as well as some awesome second seasons of anime. Due to the current world situation and many of us in lockdown/ self isolation, you’re probably looking for some great animes to watch to get you through this difficult time. I have been watching tons of anime recently but these are the top 5 that touched by heart and really grabbed my attention! 1. Demon Slayer
Of course we wouldn’t be able to start off a list like this with anything other that Demon Slayer. Demon Slayer rapidly grew in popularity when it was released, partly due to it being released on Netflix Japan. The story is so heart warming and follows main character Tanjiro go on a quest to try and turn his sister back to human after she has been turned into a demon. Along the way he meets friends, enemies and many interesting characters. The story is super unique and fun to watch, you won’t be able to stop watching! The manga is currently ongoing and there will be a film released soon which will be the start of season 2! If you haven’t watched Demon Slayer (Kimetsu No Yaiba) yet, you HAVE to watch it as soon as possible!

2. Carole & Tuesday
Set in the future when humans are living on mars, this touching story follows two main characters Carole and Tuesday. The two love music and want to become famous musicians. They meet by chance and try to achieve their dream together! However, this proves to be quite difficult due to almost all artist using AI to make their perfect music! Not only is this story super heart warming, it is also super fun to watch due to it being futuristic and having sci-fi elements to it. All the songs featured in this anime are also amazing! The anime has two seasons which are available on Netflix! If you’re looking for a heart warming anime to watch, this is the one for you.

3.Case File nº221: Kabukicho
‘Case File nº221: Kabukicho’, or ‘Kabukicho Shaarokku’ as it’s known as in Japanese, is an anime that has taken the well known story of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and modernized it. The story follows the main character (Sherlock) has he solves the various crimes and murders that take place in ‘Kabukicho’, a real life place in Japan that is located in Shinjuku and is known for bars, host clubs and a lot of illegal gambling. This anime has recently gained popularity due to it being published on to Japanese netflix and also for it’s original and creative story. If you’re looking for a fun anime that is slightly on the light hearted side…this one’s for you!

4. Psycho Pass Season 3
Psycho-pass is another anime that has been very popular for many years but has recently gained popularity due to it’s new season. Season 3 of the anime is very different from the other seasons as the main characters are completely different to the previous seasons. The story is also new and super interesting! The story follows two main characters Arata Shindo and Kei Ignatov. The two have been assigned to division one of the Public Safety Bereau and are trying to solve a chain of mysteries that are happening in Japan. The season also features old and characters that we know and love! If you have seen the previous seasons and enjoyed them, I’d highly recommend watching the latest season.

5. Haikyuu!! To The Top
Haikyuu!! is an anime that has been popular for many years now, in both Japan and abroad. It has recently became popular again in Japan due to the release of it’s new season, which is currently on-going! The story follows Hinata Shouyo, a boy who dreams of becoming a volleyball champion but is sadly very short so finds it hard. The characters in the anime are super funny and go through a lot of development throughout the anime. If you’re looking for a light-hearted anime, this one is definitely for you!
