Character Cafes Opening in Tokyo Summer 2020
If you are coming to Tokyo and love the kawaii culture of the city, you’re probably wanting to visit as many cute character cafes as you can whilst you are here! The problem is, most character cafes in Tokyo are temporary and are usually only open for a couple of months. That’s why we’ve written this handy article to show you all the character cafes that will be opening this summer in Tokyo. If you happen to be in Japan this summer, these are some of the MUST VISIT cafes that will be open in Tokyo!
1. Kirby Cafe Summer 2020
If you’re in Tokyo this year from July to September, then you’re in luck! The Kirby Cafe will be hosting it’s summer event which means new food, drinks and limited edition merchandise!
Each dish and drink will be summer themed and feature super kawaii and never before seen versions of Kirby! The merchandise that will be on offer has a range of items such as t-shirts, pouches and stationary al for you to remember your time at the Kirby summer cafe!

Some examples of the dishes that will be on offer at the cafe. All dishes range from 1,000yen – 2,000yen and there are both savory and sweet options available!

2. Yuri on Ice X Sanrio Collaboration Cafe
If you’re a Yuri on Ice fan and also love Sanrio, then this is the perfect event for you! The two are collaborating to bring out a super cute cafe with character themed food, drinks and merchandise! Each character has been paired up with a Sanrio character to suit them and the food, drinks and merchandise will be themed around this!
This cafe was actually held in 2018 but due to it’s popularity it is coming back this summer!

3. Rilakkuma Cafe
Rilakkuma is super iconic when it comes to Japanese characters. Due to this, it is no surprise that a whole cafe dedicated to him is opening this summer in Tokyo! The food looks so super cute and all has his kawaii face on it! There is also a range of drinks available, as well as some super cute merchandise!

4. Oh My! Minnie Mouse Cafe
If you’re a Disney lover who is currently in Tokyo, this is the place for you to go! A new Minnie Mouse themed cafe has opened in Tokyo and it is one of the most kawaii cafes ever! The whole cafe is decorated with Minnie Mouse decorations and all of the food is Minnie Mouse themed! This is the perfect place to go with all of your Disney loving friends!

5. Cinnamoroll Rainy Season Event
The Cinnamoroll Cafe is a permanent character cafe in Tokyo, however this summer they are having a special event that is inspired by the rainy season in Japan! The dishes on offer are super cute and look very tasty! The cafe will also be having limited edition merchandise on offer which all look very kawaii!
