1. Tokyo’s 2D Cafe, Shin-Okubo
Tokyo’s 2D cafe is one of the most unique and amazing cafes to ever exist! Inside, everything has been decorated to look like it is 2D and straight out of a cartoon or comic book! After being in there for a while, it’s weird to come back into the real world again as you got used to everything looking 2D! This cafe is great for those looking to get some unique pictures in Tokyo and for all you instagram lovers out there!
It’s not just the decor that is amazing either! The food and drink on offer is super tasty. The drink menu has tons of drinks to choose from, with things such as coffee, tapioca and jelly drinks on offer. The food menu consists mostly of sweet deserts with things such as parfaits and fruit bowls on offer!
If you’re looking for a unique cafe in Tokyo, this is somewhere you HAVE to go! It is located in Shin-Okubo, which is famous for it’s Korea Town. This means that you can explore Korea Town whilst also experiencing an amazing unique cafe!

2. PLANETARIUM Starry Cafe, Haneda Airport
This amazing and unique cafe allows you to feel like you’re eating a meal in space! The cafe is a planetarium meaning that while you’re eating tons of videos will be projected on to the ceiling showing different planets, stars and constellations! The cafe has different shows throughout the day meaning what will be shown will change depending on what time you go! the cafe is a really amazing and unique experience…I didn’t want to leave!
The food in the cafe is also great! They have tons of dishes to choose from, each of which are full meals so it’s a great place to stop off for lunch or dinner! They have many pasta dishes on offer as well as salads, omerice and much more! If you fancy something on the sweet side, the cafe offers tons of cakes and deserts that are all decorated to look like the galaxy!
The cafe is located in Haneda airport so it’s somewhere you could go to whist you are waiting for your flight! This cafe is super unique and it’s somewhere I highly recommend you visit!

3. Pepper Parlor, Shibuya
if you’re looking for a cafe that you really can’t experience outside of Japan, then you HAVE to go to this cafe! Pepper Parlor is a new cafe that is full of robots! More specifically, ‘Pepper-Kun’ (A robot that is used throughout Japan in shops and restaurants such as ‘Hamazushi’). You can use Pepper-kun to pay and order food and there are tons of them all over the cafe! The first sight is very eery as it looks like something out of a Sci-fi film!
The food and drink on offer at the cafe is SUPER tasty! Their main dish is various types of waffles which you can customize to your liking! They also have tons of sides on offer as well as many drinks. The drinks on offer range from coffee, tea, smoothies and juices.
If you’re someone who loves robots, technology and everything Sci-fi…this is the place for you!! The decor of the cafe is also super modern, adding to the amazing vibe of the whole cafe. There are also tons of original merchandise and goods on sale at the cafe!

4. At-Home Cafe, Akihabara
I wouldn’t be able to make this list without including a maid cafe in it! Maid cafes are unique to Japan and are unlike anything else! You will be greeted at the entrance of the cafe by the maids who will refer to you as ‘master’. Your food and drinks will all also be served by the maids who have special songs and dances they perform depending on what dish you order!
The food on offer there is also SUPER cute and tasty! The menu has tons of different dishes from curries, omerice, pasta and TONS of deserts! If you order a latte or pancakes, the maids will also draw personalized art on top of it with chocolate sauce!
The experience is truly amazing and something you HAVE to experience whilst you’re in Tokyo! You may feel embarrassed at first, but when you get used to it and realize everyone is doing the same thing you will truly enjoy yourself!

5. Hammock Cafe, Kichijoji
This hammock cafe in Kichijoji is the perfect place to go and relax with friends after a busy day out shopping in Tokyo. You can enjoy some super tasty food and drink whilst swinging on your own hammock! It’s super fun and the whole vibe of the cafe is relaxing and chill!! Although this cafe sin’t as crazy as some of the others on the list, it is still super unique and is perfect for those wanting to go to somewhere a bit more quiet!
The menu is full of tasty drinks and desserts, most of which they claim are originals that have been thought up in house!
