SHINING MOON TOKYO: A Guide to Tokyo’s First Permanent Sailor Moon Cafe

Many have been asking for it for years, and now it’s FINALLY here…Tokyo’s FIRST PERMANENT Sailor Moon Cafe, ‘Shining Moon Tokyo’. Sailor Moon is one of the most popular anime of all time and it sparked many peoples interest in Japan and Japanese culture. The cafe was opened in August of this year (2019) and has been extremely popular ever since! Now the cafe has been open for a few months, it’s a lot easier to get a table there as it’s not as busy…so now is the best time to go!! If you’re thinking about going, make sure to keep scrolling to see what you will experience at the amazing Sailor Moon Cafe!

What’s On The Menu?

So let’s start with the most important thing…FOOD! What kind of amazing treats can we expect to find on the Cafe’s menu?
Well, first of all, all the food and drink is decorated to be sailor moon themed so of course all the food is super kawaii no matter what you choose! But let’s look at some of the dishes in a bit more detail…

The cafe’s menu changes EVERY MONTH, so make sure you check out the official website before you go to see what will be on offer! The cafe has two separate menus. One is it’s lunch time menu, and one is it’s dinner time menu! Let’s take a look at this month’s (October) lunch menu!

LUNCH MENU (12:00 – 13:30 ): For this month, customers can choose between the ‘Pretty Guardian Lunchbox’ which is a bento full of vegetables and rice that are decorated super cutely! (option A) OR the Moon Prism Rice Burger which is served with salad (option B). To go with your super kawaii bento box, you can also choose an amazing sailor moon themed drink! You can choose between a strawberry smoothie or iced cocoa, both super delicious and kawaii!

The last items that are on the lunch menu are the dessert items! Customers can choose between the Shinning Moon Tokyo Roll Cake, which is honestly one of the cutest cakes I’ve ever seen! The plate is full of berries, the roll cake and a super cute Sailor Moon cookie!! The other option is a more traditional Japanese dessert called the ‘Tuxedo Black Sesame Sundae’, which is a bowl of ice cream with granola, Japanese mocha and Japanese sweet red beans.

DINNER MENU (16:00 – 22:40): The dinner menu has many more options to choose from, including 3 mains, multiple drinks and 3 desserts! The mains for this month are: Sailor Moon Sushi (a plate of sushi rolled into balls and served with salad), Colored Somen (pink dipping noodles served with Japanese pickles) and rabbit curry (Classic Japanese curry served with rabbit shaped rice!) Each dish is decorated so beautifully and is Sailor Moon themed!

To go with your amazing main dish, there are 6 kawaii drinks on offer!! These include: lemonade, coffee and multiple sodas! The cups that they are served in are super cute and come with a free Sailor Moon charm!

What Are The Live Shows?

Unfortunately, you cannot see the live shows at lunch time so if the show is something you really want to experience, you have to go there at dinner time! The live shows include actors dressed up as various character from the anime performing! The mainly dance and sing along to songs, so you don’t have to worry if you can’t understand Japanese as they don’t speak! The choreography for each show is amazing and the performers are so talented! If you are able to make time for it, I’d HIGHLY recommend you go to one of these shows, you won’t regret it!
